Final term 1 edit investigating hoarding as a symptom of society and spaces created as a reaction. this was the edit used for the crit but a further edit could be made cutting the gate and kitchen scenes. Further exploration should be of spaces such as the constructed ones.
Development of previous edit with focus on a more simple narrative.
first re-shuffle and edit in order to get basic time frame and general pieces i want to use.
think something along these lines would be more successful than the previous type of test. always have problems with camera movements so might just have light/dust moving in this image and use cuts to move into it. might pan round…? also, i have footage of following the character through doorways which i’d like to rotoscope into some sort of constructed corridor/hoarded space- a...
another super quick test starting to build out from the image using previous tests. probably won’t use this but thought it was interesting
this is just a super quick test to see if i can use this for anything. i like the links to a stage set with the curtains and the links to privacy and realised i had footage of the character drawing curtains. i think it could work but not in this scene- too surreal/abstract/pointless. but i do like the idea of things being revealed within the image and i do like the privacy link so might have to...
an adapted test of the colours- mainly of the back wall. i’d like to composite this with the character putting his new one down from the other test but have to re-rotoscope as i did the background not the foreground.
I’ve been meaning to start doing these ‘constructed’ spaces for a while now. I’ve had the general ideas in my head but haven’t been sure why or how to do them as i knew i wanted to mix them with my footage. still early days-i didn’t refine the photoshop plate as i still wanted to test ideas. and there’s a complete re-edit coming on in light of this. i...

– Kammerspiele. Essay by Jeff Wall on Dan Graham’s Alteration to a Suburban House.
Was recommended this essay in last pin-up. It’s interesting and relevant so far as a whole argument but doesn’t seem to have anything in particular at the moment which i want to dwell on. The above as...

Test for back wall of constructed flash forward plate- overlayed onto still hoarded image to give a slightly impermanent quality to the wall.

audio notes
After a chat with the sound designer it was established that of the three types of audio possible, one encompassing sound effects, montage, rhythm, real sounds and some possible tonal music would be better than narrative or designed/stylistic sound.
It should include old fashioned sounds/old man sounds/whistling…and have some reference to ridiculousness/british irony.
the video needs to be...
Notes on current edit: 'ideal' space and grading
Below is the current edit. It is close to what i wanted- the structure is right, the grading is coming along. It could/should be edited/cut further,
walking back to the house (though i can’t see where to cut so might just take out whole clip when walking back across the road)
making tea (needs to be cut but also have something added in the way of ‘other space’...

The Prison of Our self:Psychotherapy as a symptom... →
found when looking for something of Laing’s i found which seems to be titled ‘self, symptom and society’. not a book, maybe an essay title or chapter title…?
